About Amber Wicks

I am an experienced English educator with 7 years of experience teaching classes at Murrah High, Jackson State University's STEM summer program,Tougaloo College's Upward Bound program, and MS Valley State University's Summer Development program. The courses I taught focused on grammar, world literature, literary analysis, and writing skills. I've created culturally relevant curriculum and class activities that engage a diverse community of learners. I've also created a class website and discussion board using Canvas template and Google Classroom. Along with engaging students in literary analysis, I've also served as a Flag and Dance Line Sponsor/Choreographer where I acted as the parent, student, and director liaison, created flag and dance curriculum with superior competition ratings, managed student fundraising initiatives, and Monitored students at all practices, appearances, and performances. I've also served as a creative director and consultant in several student activities including Murrah High's annual Prom, Black History Productions, and Poetry Out Loud contest.
