Seven Core Assumptions—What We Believe to be True (excerpt from Heart of Hope and Circle Forward by Carolyn Boyes-Watson and Kay Pranis, derived from Indigenous teachings and other wisdom traditions): 1. The true self in everyone is good, wise, and powerful. The world is profoundly interconnected. All human beings have a deep desire to be in a good relationship. All human beings have gifts, and everyone is needed for what they bring. Everything we need to make positive change is already here. Human beings are holistic. We need practices to build habits of living from the core self. STUDY/RESEARCH INTERESTS: holistic activism, positive/humanistic psychology, nonviolent communication and conflict resolution skills, Ghandian and Kingian nonviolence philosophies, enneagram studies, stress and self-care skills, expanding the public commons (public banking, sharing/gift economy systems, cooperatives), cultural healing, restorative justice and criminal justice reform, documentary filmmaking, organizational change work, systems thinking and appreciative inquiry, inner transformation and spiritual awakening “We make our world significant by the courage of our questions, and the depth of our answers.” – Carl Sagan
