About Amelia Cox

I'm a second-year Geography student at Loughborough University, where I can combine my passion for competing and training and understand the human and physical influences that have shaped the place I study, live and destinations I have visited. In my first year, I gained a comprehensive foundation in both physical and human geography, broadening my understanding of diverse geographical concepts. As I progress into my second year, I have tailored my module selection to focus on my passion for physical geography. Including a highlight of a five-day field trip to Snowdonia, Wales, where I explored fluvial, glacial and coastal processes. This experience has sharpened my skills in both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, enriching my practical and theoretical understanding. Modules in first and second year have provided me with skills in both Excel and ArcGIS Pro. As an endurance athlete, I have realised the significance of reflecting and evaluating my achievements and failures, so I can improve and adapt. Competing at a national level in cross country and steeplechase has provided me with a wide range of transferable skills, the importance of setting goals, planning, preparation and dedication to ensure I can perform at my best. I understand the importance of teamwork and I have demonstrable experience in inspiring and learning from those around me. These are qualities that I am eager to apply to my future job.
