As Head of People role at Truro and Penwith College I am building on solid HR foundations and experience from a successful career spanning 25 years in operational leisure management in Cornwall. Loving the opportunity to gain new experience in education as I navigate new ways of working and lead a small team of brilliant HR professionals. Excited to develop our new people plan, implement a new HRIS system and work collaboratively to shape our organisational culture. A people focused leader I’m committed to embracing coaching and mentoring to enable others to flourish and achieve great things. A visible and engaging leader I have led leisure centre teams through periods of organisational change, driven business transformation programmes and created thriving work places. Significant operational management experience in a fast paced customer facing environment has really helped me to gain great insight to delivering exceptional service levels. I have a wealth of experience across health and safety, marketing, facility management, sustainability, human resources, safeguarding, finance and compliance. With solid business acumen and credible leadership skills I am a great choice for driving transformational programmes.Always an advocate for the value of sports and recreation in improving the physical, social, mental and well being of our communities I have been a brilliant ambassador for leisure centres in Cornwall and beyond. An excellent networker I have a proven track record of developing mutually beneficial partnerships to make a difference to the health and well being of local communities.Proudly elected to the GLL Worker Board member in June 2021 I developed my governance and social enterprise knowledge. Elected to Vice Chair of the GLL Board from June 2023 to June 2025 it was a real privilege to belong to a hardworking, committed and passionate elected staff board. I have learnt so much about how a values driven social enterprise can do so many awesome things to make a positive impact on the physical, social and mental well being of local communities all over the UK. Keen to explore new board openings in Cornwall as I am look to further develop my governance skills and help to make a difference where it matters.
