About Amelia Lees

As a Data and Insights Manager in BT, I lead a team that combines networks and customer experience data to produce meaningful insights that drive active within the wider business. I lead a Broadband and TV Customer Insights Squad, containing specialists with varied skills from across the business. My aim is to make meaningful impact to real-life products and problems. I spent the first 4 years of my career as a physics researcher in BT's Openreach Research team within Research and Network Strategy. My focus was on optical, quantum, and radio research at the physical layer of telecoms. This set me up with a great understanding of the underlying mechanics of how our products work. I then joined the Networks Data Team, where I learnt to properly use large data sets, reviewing and designing insights for BT's products, with a particular focus on Wi-Fi experience. I then became the Data and Insight Team Lead for Customer Experience, setting data strategy and getting actionable insights from the wealth of customer data available to us. I also have a first class experimental Master's in Natural Sciences from the University of York, specialising in Biophysical Sciences.
