About Amelia Schmidt
I am senior at Virginia Tech graduating in Spring of 2023 with dual-degrees in Wildlife Conservation and Animal and Poultry Sciences. Though my studies and work experience I've developed an emphasis on environmental education and equity and inclusion in educational outreach. Through my work and studies at Virginia Tech, I have gained practical experience in environmental policy, conservation, animal behavior and health, laboratory research, field research, curriculum design, and teaching. Moreover, I have developed practical skills in project management, collaboration, communication, and organizational leadership. In particular, I have developed hands on experience designing and delivering educational programs to increase awareness of wildlife conservation and environmental education for under-served and/or disadvantaged groups. Overall, I have a solid base of academic and practical/applied experience in environmental education, wildlife conservation and animal science.
