About Amie Atkinson

A bit about me. After graduating in Linguistics from the University of Manchester in 2016, I spent 3 years teaching English as a foreign language in Spain, living with nuns and embracing the Spanish way of life. I spent the first year in a small city called Caceres, teaching teenagers and completing a masters course at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Bilingual Education. In my second year, I taught English in Madrid/Alcala de Henares, whilst also teaching online to Chinese, Taiwanese & Japanese students. I then switched my professional career to join AlphaSights in London where I acted as a key liaison between European Private Equity Funds and C-level industry professionals to facilitate due diligence processes in M&A transactions. Excitingly, I am now proud to work at the UK's leading youth charity, heading up our Women Supporting Women Initiative. In my free time, I am a volunteer ESL Teacher where I teach basic English skills to Spanish-speaking refugees/asylum seekers. I am also studying my MSc in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the University of Oxford. Generally interested in language learning, edtech, linguistic discrimination and young people. I also enjoy yoga, travel, dogs and cheese.
