About Amie Sutton

Clinical Scientist (Urodynamics with Lower Gastrointestinal physiology) at University Hospitals Birmingham. MSc Clinical Science from Newcastle University.I am currently focusing on expanding my knowledge of clinical management within Urodynamics and GI Physiology whilst running the Urodynamics unit at UHB. I am overseeing training and UKAS accreditation of the department, as well as managing quality control and health and safety.I am looking forward to beginning the 1 year ASP training focusing in Upper GI physiology in September 2026. My further scientific interests include sonography, cancer cell biology and diagnostic techniques in cancer research from my time in my undergraduate and first masters degree.Outside of work, I am passionate to inspire other young scientists, and regularly present at outreach events at the University of Sussex, and as part of the STP network.I previously volunteered with the Brain Tumour Charity, first as a Young Ambassador, and then a Young Ambassador Mentor for a total of 4 years. Prior to this, I volunteered as a Buddy Student, and was final year student representative for Biomedical Science at Sussex University. I am pleased to have created podcasts with The Brain Tumour Charity, the University of Sussex and others on the STP dealing with a range of topics from grief and anxiety, to applying to the STP and my job role as a Clinical Scientist. I hope to continue this outreach work and enhance my scientific and medical communication skills.My previous laboratory work (MSci) at University of Sussex included cancer cell biology, extracellular vesicles and genetic manipulation.
