Global Girl Media Productions is a global-themed film/video production company founded in 1994 by Amie Williams. She has produced and directed over 200 projects, from feature documentaries, shorts, industrials and TV spots. Clients include PBS, Current TV, Al Jazeera English, Discovery Channel, BBC, CBC, SABC, ARTE, AFTRA/SAG, USAID, women's organizations (TedWomen, Global Fund for Women, etc.) GGMP specializes in intersectional, political, gender lens investigative reporting/videography in Africa, Middle East, Greece and the United States. Recent Feature Documentary Films include: UNFINISHED JOURNEY, film-in-progress about Afghan women leaders living in exile in Canada. Amie also works as a journalist in Athens, Greece focused on stories of gender, the environment and social justice. She has written two screenplays and and was a Film Independent Fellow for Directing in 2011, finalist for NYWIF and Sundance Screenwriting Lab in 2017 and is currently in preproduction for her screenplay,"Journey of Winter and Summer," based in Tunisia with Cinetele Films. Selected as "One of 50 Women Who Can Change Media and Entertainment" Amie was also a recipient of the With And For Girls Award in 2016. She was honored with the MacArthur Fellowship for International Peace for her work with youth against Apartheid in South Africa, and the SONY/Streisand Award for emerging female directors. Amie is the co-founder and E.D. of Global Girl Media, an NGO that develops the voice and media literacy of teenage girls in underserved communities by teaching them to create and share digital journalism designed to ignite community activism and social change.
