About Amilcare Berti

I started on 1998 after my graduation in civil engineering being employed in Saipem My first assignement was in Italy inside a yard dedicated to fabricate offshore facilities where I was responsible to coordinate production activities on three main projects. After this first experience I started several years of growth in the estimation and commercial area, where I developped a strong experience on estimation and bid negotiation. The first management assignement was on 2003 when I was appointed as project manager and I continued on this assignement until 2010 managing several fabrication projects for a Saipem branch in Nigeria and for Intermare Sarda ( Saipem Group Italian fabrication yard ) with an average value between 30 and 150 million US$ each. During this period I was called to develop strong management and planning capacities and to lead teams to meet Project targets and Client satisfaction. After this experience I stepped forward to the role of Operations Manager in a Saipem Company in Angola During this period I developped a wider view by managing a portfolio up to ten parallel projects divided in two different yards in Angola. Furthermore I worked to optimize yard organization and implement production control tools. I managed a turnover between 350 and 500 million dollars per year increasing the overall profitability from break even to 40 million dollars operative margin The Offshore division I managed was counting 2 fabrication yards and a peak of about persons divided in two yards ( Soyo and Ambriz ). In terms of behavior I have a strong orientation to team working, being a good reference and leader for my team members. I promote a cooperative and proactive working approach always oriented to target achievement and continuous improvement. Problem solving is an essential part of my daily activities as far as decision taking always being focused on technical and economic targets but keeping always as priority safety standards.
