About Amina Antar

As a budding researcher, I am interested in integrating disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and public health in order to take a nuance look at root causes, as well as the prevention and healing efforts surrounding gender-based violence (e.g, intimate partner violence), racial trauma, and other forms of interpersonal violence with an emphasis on the Black community and intersectionality. I am also curious about the emotional and psychological impacts of such trauma, with a keen curiosity in the bidirectional relationship between trauma and the development and management of both inter- and intrapersonal relationships. My formal education in psychology as well as my professional experience in public mental health and implementation research have allowed for me to merge these different disciplines in my approach to an interdisciplinary and mixed-methods research Ultimately, I hope to bridge together research, practice, and policy in order to aid in the preventative and restorative efforts to end gender-based and race-based violence and trauma by using the knowledge cultivate to bring about change using implementation and translational sciences.
