About Amina Joseph

I’m a passionate and experienced mental health professional with 7+ years of delivering compassionate, evidence-informed care across inpatient, forensic, and community mental health settings. I recently completed my Master of Science in Nursing at York University (June 2025), building on a strong clinical foundation established through my BScN from Ontario Tech University. Throughout my career, I’ve supported individuals living with complex mental health needs while leading collaborative, multidisciplinary care. I currently serve as a Nurse Educator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), where I champion clinical education, quality improvement, and safe care practices within a transitional care setting. Previously, I worked as a Nurse Case Manager on the ACT Team at CMHA York Region and served as a Charge Nurse at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, overseeing daily operations and patient safety in high-acuity forensic environments. My strengths include psychiatric assessment, therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and program development. I’m also deeply invested in systems-level change, with experience leading QI initiatives, adapting policy for diverse care environments, and supporting teams through education and change implementation. I hold certifications in Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Prevention & Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Basic Life Support. As a lifelong learner and nurse leader, I’m committed to advancing mental health care and fostering compassionate, equitable systems of support for clients, families, and care teams.
