About Amir Ghatefar

Amir Ghatefar is a Senior Structural Engineer with Metro Vancouver’s Engineering, Design, and Construction (EDC) department, based in the Burnaby office. He serves as both Engineer of Record (EoR) and Project Manager (PM) on various infrastructure and major capital projects. Amir completed his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering at the University of Manitoba and worked as an R&D Engineer at SIMTReC in Winnipeg. He has also held roles as a Structural Project Engineer at WSP Canada and as a Senior Engineer in the Bridges and Infrastructure Department at Parsons. Amir has a strong technical background in project resource management, structural design, load rating, analysis, construction, inspection, and maintenance of steel, concrete, arch, and curved/skewed structures. His expertise includes finite element modeling and structural health monitoring. He prioritizes collaboration at every stage to ensure practical, client-focused, and constructible solutions.
