About Amir Ghorbani

With a PhD in Materials Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada, and over a decade of experience spanning academia and industry, I specialize in tackling complex challenges in both ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. I am flexible, eager to learn and living outside of my comfort zone! My academic background is enriched with publications across a wide range of experimental and computational fields—from severe plastic deformation of aluminum and magnesium alloys to nano-composite powder metallurgy, and from finite element analysis to advanced modelling of irradiation damage in zirconium using high-performance computing (HPC). Professionally, I’ve built a robust portfolio in molten salt electrolysis, titanium slag pyrometallurgy, and zinc hydrometallurgy. I bring a unique mix of hands-on industrial expertise, entrepreneurial vision, and strategic project management—making me equally comfortable in the lab, in the field, writing code, or leading multi-disciplinary teams.
