About Amir Tal

I’ve teamed up with the smart property people at Nexus Property Group to co-found SOLProp, a company that lets commercial property landlords save as much as 15% on their electricity bill by buying solar farm energy at no upfront cost. My collaboration with Nexus Property Group, which incubated SOLProp, brings together the Nexus team’s deep understanding of the commercial property space and their extensive network, with my proven ability to build and scale a tech-based annuity business. I’m excited to be building the engine of something that brings together the built environment, renewable energy and digital technology. At SOLProp, our mission is simple: To help save South Africa one solar farm user at a time. Previously I founded Myertal in 2009, and served as managing director for a decade. My time there allowed me to develop my business philosophy and gave me tens of thousands of hours of experience building an optimised business engine. About a year ago, this bio ended by saying “Watch this space…” I’ve been in the fortunate position, after exiting my first business, to spend time figuring out what is next. During this time in the business test kitchen, I’ve leaned into my personal values of bravery, focus, simplicity and curiosity, and I’m excited to share the outcome. It is my ultimate ambition to, with focus, bravery and kindness, help build a more inclusive tech industry and digital African economy. The next step on that journey is SOLProp, so stand by for more news from the engine room.
