About Amirul Alam

Dr. Md Amirul Alam, currently works at the Faculty of Sustainable Agriculture, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Sandakan Campus. Previously he was working in Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin | UniSZA. Before that he worked at Universiti Putra Malaysia as Post-Doctoral fellow. Dr. Alam also had about two years practical experience as Plant Breeder at Lal Teer Seed Ltd.(former East-West Seed BD Ltd.) R&D farm. Dr. Amirul does research in Plant Breeding, Plant Physiology, Seed Science and Technology, Vegetable production, Roots and Tuber crops, Herbs and Spices crops, Plant bio-active compounds, Stress breeding, Plant molecular biology, Plant salinity interaction, organic farming, indigenous and medicinal plant research and Agronomy. He has completed one Purslane project, two rice project, one Okra project and two chili projects. Their current project is 'Evaluation of indigenous and medical herbs of Malaysia' and 'Nutritional biofortification of cucurbitaceous vegetable crops, Germplasm collection and evaluation of local eggplant and okra varieties of Malaysia and microgreen production from different crop seeds.
