About Amit Chavan

I am a Software Engineer with expertise in developing state-of-the-art cloud-native data management systems. Currently, I'm an engineer at Snowflake working on Unistore, a unified platform that combines transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) data workloads. I have led the design and delivered key features for physical storage optimization for analytical workloads, time-travel capabilities, and change data capture support. Previously I was at Amazon Web Services, where I served as Technical Lead on the AWS Lake Formation team and drove the development of key governance capabilities, including, ACID (atomic, consistent, isolated, and durable) transactions in data lake environments, advanced metadata search, and a data lineage platform. I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a specialization in data management.
