About Amit Mistry

Versatile and data-driven technology professional and technical leader specialising in internet regulation and applied algorithmic ethics, including in relation to classical and advanced machine learning systems (i.e, transformer based systems). Currently based at Ofcom and leading from the ground up the end-to-end development of the UKs first set of regulations for algorithmic systems to help to create safer online experiences for UK internet users. Core responsibilities include identifying design level and system risks of technical developments and new products, and lead the policy development of practical mitigations. More broadly, Amit supports Ofcom’s work on AI assurance, investigating how developers and regulators can work together on policy issues such as the secure distribution of models, interpretability and transparency, and capability elicitation.
