Dr. Amit Monga has over two decades of investment banking, venture capital, and corporate governance experience in the technology, infrastructure, media, telecom, and life sciences sectors and has worked with the boards and management teams of some of Canada’s largest high-profile public and private companies, assisting them with equity and debt financings, and M&A. In his current role as the President of EECOMOBILITY, Dr. Monga leads the development and execution of EECOMOBILITY's vision and strategic goals, ensuring alignment with long-term growth objectives. Previously, he was Managing Director, Global Investment Banking, CIBC Capital Markets. In this role, he assisted large cap companies in the software and hardware sectors with initial public offerings, equity and debt financings and M&A globally. At CIBC, he also served on the Bank's Innovation Council focusing on evaluating growth opportunities, fintech initiatives, acquisitions, AI and machine learning applications across the bank. He has also worked as a venture capitalist, management consultant, and founded a vertical market software company, HigherMarkets. HigherMarkets was acquired by SciQuest (NASDAQ:SQST). SciQuest subsequently rebranded as Jaggaer and was acquired in August (2024) by Vista Equity Partners for approx.$3 billion. Dr. Monga currently serves on the boards of Infrastructure Ontario, University of Toronto Press and is a member of the Doctoral Dissertation Committee at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School based in Los Angeles, California. He was previously a member of the Innovation Council at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and served on the boards of both the Canadian Medical Foundation and Alberta Innovates Technology Futures. He regularly presents on the topics of fintech, AI, venture capital, private equity, and M&A. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Alberta, where his research focused on solving complex reliability-based design problems using genetic algorithms. An expert in artificial intelligence and data analytics, his research has been published in top peer-reviewed academic journals. He is also a co-inventor of two US Patents. He has appeared numerous times on Bloomberg BNN and CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and has authored op-eds in the Financial Post on the topics of private equity, venture capital, entrepreneurship, activist shareholders and technology commercialization.
