I see the software system as being akin to the human body, and I strive to achieve the proper balance when writing code. Code should be modular, but not too modular as to not be readable. Systems should be robust, but not prematurely over-architected. And tests are the perfect exercise regimen for a codebase so that it won't require rehabilitation down the road!
