Background

About Amitha Pradeep

I’m Amitha Pradeep, an architect who never loses the desire to learn and improve my skills. I’ve graduated from college of architecture trivandrum and currently working as a junior architect at De Earth, Calicut. Also, I’m pursuing my higher studies in MSc Sustainable Cities at university of leeds, Uk. During my UG period, as part of UD semester, got an opportunity to Document the Attukal temple precinct and the Attukal Pongala. That documentation played a key role in understanding how a public space turned into a space for some entirely different function for a particular time or day and returned back to normal in short period of time. That project made me more fascinated about urban designing.During my practice as a junior architect, I am very glad that I got the opportunity to work for the government in a project called “Rebuild Malabar” as a part of “Rebuild Kerala”, The intention of that project was to identify the people who lost their home and livelihoods during the floods that happened in Kerala in the year of 2018. I could be a part in the surveys, mappings, client discussions etc. That contributed to the Rebuild Malabar report. In addition to that our firm got an opportunity to design a ‘Care Home’ for a person who was a victim of that flood, which is also a part of Government’s Rebuild Kerala project. I was assigned as the in charge of that project to supervise and monitor. And we successfully completed that project in the month of June, 2019. In my professional field I mainly dealt with residential projects as well as tourism projects.“Thalassery Heritage Project”, which is a heritage tourism project that is proposed to promote the tourism in Northern Malabar region. It includes conservation and restoration of all the heritage buildings like temples, palaces, museums and streets, roads, ponds etc, which narrates the story of a decade. Development of an urban historic environment is more like narrating a story of our precinct, showcasing our culture, protecting our heritage through an artistical touch in a more practical way, and thus contributing to the economy.“Nilambur tribal village” is also another government project for the tribes those who were affected by the flood. It is intended to recreate the colony with their house and livelihoods. The Nilambur tribal village will be a model self sufficient village. These are two other government projects that I’ve worked on which has a tourism value. Also I’ve worked in a project “Integrated coffee park _ a carbon neutral initiative” at Wayanad which is also another tourism project.
