About Amlan Dutta

I am an academician and researcher working in the domain of theoretical and computational materials science. I lead the Multiscale Materials Modeling group at the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering IIT Kharagpur. Our research activities which lie at the interface between physics and technology involve developing physics-based mathematical and computational models to understand various fundamental and technological aspects of materials. We use tools like molecular dynamics simulations kinetic Monte Carlo cellular automata discrete dislocation dynamics machine learning and optimization etc. We are presently interested in exploring various topics like accelerated molecular dynamics physics of epitaxial growth effective temperature thermodynamics modeling and simulation of electromigration metallic glasses grain boundary migration and radiation effects on solids.
