Dedicated and passionate educator with 24 years of experience in both general education and special education. Demonstrates interest in students’ academic, social, and emotional development. Believes in the importance of providing educational opportunities to all individuals, regardless of ability level—advocates for creating responsible citizens in all age levels from preschool to high school. Areas of expertise include teamwork with parents, administrators, students, colleagues, and support staff. Uses data from regular assessments and progress monitoring to drive instruction. Encourages a high level of parent involvement and student-centered learning specific to individual targeted goal areas for students with or without disabilities. Able to set up and implement crisis plans, learning plans, and behavior management programs that optimize the educational setting focused on targeted goals in core academic areas and social/emotional skills by facilitating a safe culture and community of learning and respect for all individuals regardless of the level of academic and behavioral functioning. Very passionate about providing a safe space for learning and equitable access to curriculum, instruction, and social experiences for special populations of students (qualified under Title VI, Title IX, and IDEA/504).
