About Amol Rahulkar

I have carried out my research work on the design of multi-resolution based wavelets for iris-biometric feature extraction and classifier, where we have developed novel five different types of wavelet based iris-biometric feature extraction schemes and one post-classifier for the iris recognition. We have published twenty-one papers in referred journals at International level i.e. Transactions, Elsevier, Springer, IET, Access, filed one Indian patent and authored two books. I am a reviewer of Transactions on CAS-II, Elsevier-Neurocomputing, IET-Biometrics, IET-Signal processing, IET-Image processing, Processing letters and given talks in the field of biometrics, wavelets and directional wavelets, design of neural networks as part of short term courses conducted at various reputed institutes. Also, my team is working on the design and development of FPGA based hardware accelerators for wavelets and neural networks required for image and video processing applications. In this, we are working on the development of : • Hardware accelerators for orthogonal, bi-orthogonal and Gabor wavelets • Development of fixed-point multipliers that can be used in neural network application to increase processing speed with reduced power dissipation. • Higher order Multipliers using two high speed, area efficient, low power 4:2 approximate compressor units for Neural network (CNN) based multimedia applications. We have also developed databases on fingerprints and face of 497 infants and toddlers for their bio-metric recognition under sponsored project from SERB, New Delhi and available online for individual research work. Also, published one video course on “Circuit Theory” and available on YouTube.
