About Amos Mugi

Amos is a financial market professional with 13 years experience in Development and Sustainable Finance, Institutional Capital Mobilization and Investments across Africa and the US in private and public sectors. I have a passion for driving sustainable long-term value creation and impact for organizations and stakeholders. I am committed to ensuring capital plays a critical role in creating a sustainable future for Africa’s people and its natural environment. I have a keen interest in Institutional Capital Mobilization, Local Currency and designing vehicles that optimally enhance the flow of long term capital to the real economy. I am currently a Financial Markets Specialist at FSD Africa, a specialist development agency working to build and strengthen financial markets across Sub-Saharan Africa. In my role, I am responsible for implementing financial markets development and deepening initiatives through innovative finance, product development, money and debt markets, market infrastructure and policy and regulations. Prior to joining FSD Africa, I worked at the Central Bank of Kenya where I managed the investment risks of US$8 billion of Foreign Exchange Reserves assets, informed the Strategic Asset Allocation and portfolio construction, as well as portfolio performance measurement and attribution.At CrowdStrike in Silicon Valley, US, I participated in the $700 million IPO listing on the NASDAQ (CRWD), worked on a $150 million debt capital raise, I was involved in investor relations efforts, due diligence as well as evaluation of tuck-in acquisitions (build vs. buy). I hold a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Nairobi, Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM®), Certified Expert in ESG and Impact Investing (Frankfurt School of Finance and Management), Certified Expert in Sustainable Finance (Frankfurt School of Finance and Management), Graduate Certificate in Capital Markets (George Washington University) and CPA qualifications. I am also a fellow of the IFC-Milken Institute Capital Markets Leaders Program. Geographies: US, Africa. I played club hockey for Parklands Sports Club hockey team in the Kenya Hockey League and managed the team after hanging my boots. Outside work, I enjoy hiking, playing football and watching stand-up comedy.
