About Amrit Jayaswal

Committed to addressing and resolving present & future challenges faced by our society around food-health security, neglected diseases and civilizational progress & downfall/collapse risks - with a focus on leveraging science and technology sciences towards it. My past experiences through internships, lab and theory work have equipped me with competence in fields at the intersection of molecular biology, bioprocessing, fermentation, proteins, translational clinical research, and nutrition sciences. I was awarded a state research grant (TNSCST 2021-22) for carrying out a project on producing edible fungal food via fermentation. Besides these, during my undergrad, I was a contributor/editor for the biosciences university newsletter and was selected as a department research & innovation club member. My interests lie in creating biochemical products, therapeutics, foods, and enzymes to address global food and health security, enhance nutrition, and create more energy-efficient food ingredients & biomaterials. My focus areas include fermentation, upstream & downstream processing, and analysis of pharmaceutical or bioactive compounds - especially those involving proteins. Recently, I've also been reading up more on computational biology and bioinformatics. I strive for continual learning and fostering collaboration. I'm approachable and flexible in a team, while also being capable of working independently.
