About Amy Baker

Experienced Registered Nurse with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & health care industry. After graduating from Franklin and Marshall College in 2007 with a BA in biology she worked at Johns Hopkins University as a research technician in an international HIV laboratory. There she worked to develop HIV incidence testing and had the opportunity to conduct training at several international laboratories. Amy graduated from Johns Hopkins Nursing School in 2011 and moved to New York City where she started working at Mount Sinai Hospital in an adult medical step-down unit with an emphasis on respiratory care and weaning patients off ventilators. In 2017 the same unit was restructured into a 14-bed critical care step-down unit. Amy has worked on numerous multidisciplinary committees to improve quality and safety in the hospital and on her unit. Through these committees she has worked to improve hospital throughput, reduce hospital acquired infections, reduce falls, and improve provider communication. Amy has completed special training in pressure injury prevention and recognition and has worked to improve the quality of care given to patients to reduce pressure injury rates in the hospital through teaching and helping conduct multiple prevalence studies. She received her certification in progressive care nursing in 2015. Amy graduated from NYU with her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2019. Amy joined MSI on the quality and patient safety team in 2019 and has presented workshops on falls prevention, pressure injury prevention, and reducing medication errors. Amy also has helped provide Joint Commission International training and conducted multiple mock surveys and patient tracers both virtually and in person.
