Amy Lewis Bear is a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Heartwise Counseling. She specializes in helping people recover from being in emotionally abusive relationships. Amy provides therapy sessions through an online clinical website. Amy is the author of From Charm to Harm: The Guide to Spotting, Naming, and Stopping Emotional Abuse in Intimate Relationships (Balboa Press, an imprint of Hay House 2014): She also blogs for an international online magazine PsychologyToday.com: She is on a mission to raise the level of public awareness about emotional abuse and has been interviewed on television and radio talk shows from Massachusetts to Oregon. She completed her clinical internship in the Behavioral Health Unit at Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur. After graduation, she joined Atlanta Medical Center as a Licensed Psychiatric Clinician in the Adult Behavioral Health Unit, which provides psychiatric care for people diagnosed with anxiety/depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, and other psychological issues. Prior to becoming a counselor, Amy worked with major pharmaceutical corporations in New York to launch new medications in the United States. She also worked as a medical writer with the International Medical News Group, publishers of physician newspapers, such as Clinical Psychiatry News, and traveled on assignment to cover the latest medical advances in the United States and abroad.
