About Amy Bottomley
I am a research scientist specialising in molecular microbiology at the ithree institute, University of Technology Sydney. My research involves understanding bacterial cell division and how it is regulated in response to a variety of environmental cues, including during infection and in response to nutrient availability. Understanding how bacteria grow and reproduce in different environments could help us change the way we treat infections, or design new antibiotics to stop the growth process. I am also passionate about equity and diversity issues in STEMM, and am part of the Faculty of Science E&D committee to give a voice to early career researchers about equity issues in the scientific community.
