Background
About Amy Buck
I am currently a Masters of Education Student at OISE at The University of Toronto, studying Social Justice Education and I am a secondary LTO & OT for the TDSB, particularly in English and Social Studies. I was a second year I/S Master's of Teaching Student at OISE at The University of Toronto. I worked working as an English and Social Studies Tutor at Forest Hill Academy, Liberty Tutoring and Cassel's Tutoring through my years as an MT Student. I worked as an English High School and Elementary Math Teacher at Oxford Learning Don Mills. I taught one to two hour classes between three students at Oxford. Lessons include reading, sentence writing, vowels, verbs, addition, subtraction, factions, decimals, BEDMAS, multiplication, division, Algerbra, Shakespeare Plays, Creative Writing, Grammar, Essay Writing, and Media Studies. Before that I worked for Sutherland- Chan at there evening Receptionist for Student Clinic answering phone calls, emails, setting up appointments, clinic carts, file boxes, and paperwork needed by the students. As well as a high school English Teacher at Success Tutorial School, for grades 6-11. I have also worked as both a Part-Time Teacher and Education Coordinator for Oxford Learning at their Scarborough East and only as a teacher at their Rosedale location. In doing this, I have learned skills such as admin and clerical duties including answering and responding to email and phone inquiries; managing schedules and attendance for staff and students on MS Excel; customer service skills like communicating with clients, student’s school teachers, my Manager and student’s Oxford teachers in person, by email and by telephone to put together programs, books, and lessons, tailored and best fit for each student; scheduling meetings with potential clients and current clients in person and by phone; and getting to know each student and teacher to ensure each class set up suited both best. I was also able to reinforce and build up my organization skills with keeping materials organized and readily available, photocopying vital information, printing and putting together required teaching materials, and using MS Excel for scheduling, attendance and other admin duties. I am highly proficient with MS Word from not only working for Oxford creating templates for emails to teachers, and answering inquires, but similarly from doing my Double Major Bachelor of Arts Honours at Trent University in Gender & Women Studies and English Literature.
