About Amy Bumbaco

I am currently working as an Assistant Director in the Honors Program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). Previously I was an academic advisor at ERAU for over 7 years - mainly in the College of Engineering. I have taught a college success course for multiple semesters. I use my overall skills and background to support and encourage students within the program. I enjoy continuing to pursue my research abilities, my experience in the learning science/ publishing industry, my ability to work well with people, and my educational background of qualitative studies in education and Materials Science and Engineering to contribute to the community. My passion for education and my problem solving abilities guide my goals and desires for my career. I have dedicated myself to understanding and growing in my knowledge of advising, Materials Science and Engineering, other engineering disciplines, and Engineering Education. Based on my interests in engineering, influencing younger generations, and teaching new techniques, I created my own path and found my passion in doing engineering education and advising work. Along with a graduate teaching position for first year students, I have had research experience with qualitative work in engineering education during my doctoral degree and with Materials Science and Engineering at Brookhaven National Labs. I had also worked for over a year in the learning science/publishing industry on a variety of engineering textbooks and digital products.
