Background
About Amy Buxton
Fundraiser specialising in Individual Giving. Manager at Ashgate Hospice with a passion for great leadership. I am a dedicated fundraiser specialising in Individual Giving, with a proven track record in delivering impactful campaigns that build lasting donor relationships. I am proud to lead a talented and creative team, working together to drive income growth across Individual Giving, In Memoriam, Legacy, and Lottery streams—key areas that ensure our hospice can continue its vital work. Career: I began my career in the Communications Team at Ashgate Hospice, where I shared powerful patient stories across digital and print platforms. Meeting patients and understanding the importance of the hospice in their lives deeply inspired me to move into Individual Giving, where I could place these stories at the heart of our fundraising appeals. I set up the hospice’s first Individual Giving team and I now oversee multiple income streams and lead multichannel campaigns. My work combines strong project management skills, data-driven insights to enhance results, and a commitment to excellent donor stewardship. Education: I hold a BSc in Anthropology from UCL, where I developed a strong understanding of human behavior and society. My dissertation focused on women’s social experiences in Japan, having carried out my research during an exchange year at Waseda University, Tokyo. These experiences not only helped me connect with diverse audiences but also honed my ability to synthesise and communicate stories- a skill that has been invaluable in my charity career. Volunteering & Interests: Charity work has always been a passion of mine, from organising Oxfam fundraising events as a teen in the UK to volunteering with Lighthouse: Centre for Human Trafficking Victims whilst at university in Japan. I also gained experience with the Family Planning Association’s Media and Communications team in London. This year, I’ve become a Trustee for Potential Plus UK who help children with High Learning Potential to thrive. I’m also a regional leader of the Smartphone Free Childhood movement, giving talks in schools. I have a love for continuous learning and personal development. To support my growth as a leader, I started a ‘Leadership Bookclub’ at Ashgate Hospice, where colleagues and I explore insights from influential thinkers and share ideas to enhance our leadership skills. Outside of work, I enjoy practicing and teaching yoga as a qualified yoga instructor, and spending time with my two beautiful boys.
