Helping people process via the body (somatically) and connecting with the non thinking part of the brain (reptilian brain) that controls our survival responses. The language is not a rational thought process. Helping people stabilize and settle - to feel safe in the here right now. Helping people create healthy strong boundaries without guilt or shame. Mobilizing healthy aggression by working with internalized rage/anger to help unwind the tension patterns help in the body. The complexities of identity and how we internalize emotions. By externalizing them and allowing one to fully embody the Self we become whole. Imposter syndrome and self sabotage is resolved with uncoupling shame and changing physiology around beliefs and behavior. When survival physiology activates there is an alter-ness that hinders sleep, digestion, clear thinking and the capacity to maintain loving relationships. Somatic work helps the mind/body reconnect to a sense of safety from within. Or for some build a map, which unfortunately may not have existed.
