About Amy Erickson

Hi! My name is Amy Erickson, I am a Nutrition student in the Didactic Program in Dietetics at the University of Minnesota. I have worked in nutrition for the past year in various settings including sports, community, and culinary nutrition. I was recently accepted into the Masters of Nutrition Program at the UMN where I plan to further my research into community nutrition. I am deeply passionate about helping others. The ability to change someone’s relationship with food and do what I love every day is why I chose a career in dietetics. I will make an excellent Registered Dietitian because I have strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal communication, and attention to detail. From my experience in the nutrition field, I have learned what it takes to be an excellent Registered Dietitian. In my career thus far, I have shown my passion for customer service and this is directly transferable to my sincere concern and compassion for a person’s health and well-being. I want to make a difference in my community through my work. I find it inspiring that dietitians are able to provide easy-to-understand nutrition science to their communities to help treat and prevent chronic diseases. I know that in this career I will help people live healthier and happier lives.
