About Amy Eussen

I am an Australian, international public lawyer practicing in the field of international criminal law, humanitarian law, human rights (specifically child rights) and public health. I have a passion for international and domestic relations, international public law, health law, social justice and equality, politics and the promotion and protection of human rights through legal avenues. I am currently employed as an Associate Legal Officer for the United Nations to the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (“ICTY”) and the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (“MICT”). I am also a rostered expert at Justice Rapid Response.I have past experience in human rights litigation dealing with issues arising in Europe, Asia, Africa, Russia and South America. I was the co-founder and currently sit on the Advisory Council of NCD Child, a network of UN agencies, academia, NGOs and the development sector, that come together to advocate for child and adolescents human rights, specifically related to Non Communicable Diseases (“NCDs”), such as cancer, diabetes, heart and lung disease and the associated risk factors of obesity, lack of exercise, tobacco and alchohol. This involvement stems from my ongoing role as UN Co-ordinator for an Australian based NGO, CLAN, that provides a community development approach, known as the five pillars, to children and adolescents suffering living with chronic health conditions through Asia and the Middle East. I am passionate about highlighting the importance of pro bono work within the workplace.
