About Amy Gill

I am a mixed-methods social researcher with nearly a decade of experience in the academic, non-profit, and private sectors. I am committed to a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to out-of-home care, care leaving, and parenting research. I have experience in project management; research consultancy; data management; stakeholder engagement; survivor-led participatory research; scoping and systematic literature reviews; population-level administrative data analysis; longitudinal methods; mixed-methods surveys; qualitative methods (interviews and focus groups); and as a collaborator in all stages of the research process from design to dissemination. I also have a professional background in primary school teaching and youth work. I have an emerging track record of peer reviewed publications in top tier journals and have shared my academic and experiential knowledge of OOHC as an invited speaker and panelist. I am an experienced peer reviewer and have been an active member of faculty committees, advisory boards, and international research networks in service of the academy for the past five years. My PhD consisted of a mixed-methods study exploring service responses to early parenthood within the context of out-of-home care in New South Wales. I am a passionate advocate for out-of-home care sector reform and translating lived experience into effective social policy and practice. As a ND care-experienced mother, reflexivity and positionality are central to my research practice.
