About Amy Handlan
I am the Yang Family Assistant Professor of Economics at Brown University. I earned my PhD in Economics and MA in Economics from the University of Minnesota, and BS in Economics from George Mason University. I am a macroeconomist with research interests in monetary economics and public finance. Methodologically, I am interested in applying machine learning and computational text analysis methods to economic research. My current work applies deep-learning text analysis algorithms to monetary policy announcements to create a new measure of innovations to monetary policy that captures the effect of forward guidance.
