About Amy Harris

WORK EXPERIENCE I am an experienced research institute manager with a comprehensive background in coordination of multiple projects, writing successful grant applications, creating staff protocols, strategic communication planning, knowledge mobilisation, and event management. ACADEMIC FOCUS My scholarship focuses on the critical role of museums and exhibitions about climate change in developing futures literacy - our ability to think about the future in a generative and empowered way. This stems from a desire to understand more fully how information about climate change is mediated through cultural institutions, as spaces that inspire our creative imaginaries. SUMMARY Originally from the UK, I have lived in Vancouver, BC for more than a decade. My academic background was in English Literature, but following an unfulfilling career in personal finance prompting a change of scenery to Vancouver, I worked in communications for 7 years before pursuing a Masters, completed in Spring 2020. As Manager for the Digital Democracies Institute alongside my studies I am part of a dynamic and generative research environment, and I am excited about completing my PhD in early 2025 and moving forward in my career.
