About Amy Hatfield

Passionate social service specialist and AmeriCorps alumna with a strong foundation in community development, emergency management, and urban affairs. With an AAS in Emergency Management and a BS in Urban Affairs and Policy from Portland State University, I combine academic expertise with hands-on experience to address complex challenges in both urban and rural settings. Currently serving as a Senior Rural Development Specialist, I partner with rural communities to improve water and wastewater infrastructure. My work includes assisting individuals with private well testing, guiding communities through state and federal funding applications, and conducting rate and income studies to promote sustainable utility systems. My career journey has been enriched by diverse experiences, including internships with Sponsors Organized to Assist Refugees (SOAR), the Washington Department of Transportation, and the Disability Network Capitol Area in Lansing, Michigan. I have also completed over 30 FEMA independent study courses, further solidifying my skills in disaster preparedness and response. Having recently relocated from Portland, Oregon to Livonia, Michigan, I am excited to bring my dedication to community impact and problem-solving to new opportunities.
