About Amy Howard

Hi there!I have always had a big heart and wanted to support people in whatever way I could.As a volunteer at Kids on the Move Day camp I supported kids with disabilities get the best possible experience, leading crafts and responding to kids' needs, under the supervision of occupational therapists. This was a rewarding experience and I learned so much, developing my ability to think on my feet and respond to others' needs. I further developed these skills as a camp counsellor at Kortright Center for Conservation. I lead groups of up to 10 campers in a variety of activities from nature hikes to arts and crafts, using the knowledge I had learned in Girl Guides, and teaching the fun activities I loved as a kid. I was developed my communication and collaboration skills, coordinating and collaborating to deliver activities with the other camp counsellors. I was the first point of contact for parents, keeping them informed and responding to their needs. In school, I have developed my communication skills in academic settings, synthesizing and presenting research information. I have taken courses in research methods, data analysis, and information and analysis where I have developed important skills in interpreting and communicating information yielded by studies. Right now, I am completing my undergrad majoring in Psychology and minoring in Peace and Conflict studies. I am learning all kinds of good stuff from patterns of human behaviour and how to optimize this to successfully managing conflicts. I am eager to out this knowledge to work! And there are so many ways to do this.
