About Amy Hudson

Amy Hudson is the communications director at the Air & Space Forces Association. She is responsible for developing and implementing the association’s overall strategic communications, building the agenda for the association’s two main conferences each year, and managing the Air & Space Warfighters in Action speaker series, AFA’s tv studio and the afa.org website and social media channels. She previously served as the news editor for Air & Space Forces magazine, where she produced the Daily Report column and managed all online news content. She has written numerous features for the magazine on everything from overseas air base defense to Arctic operations to the Air Force's efforts to revamp training using virtual and augmented reality technology. Hudson has reported from virtually every theater, including embeds in Iraq and Afghanistan. Prior to coming to the magazine, she worked as a staff reporter at Marine Corps Times and as a deputy news editor at Navy Times. Her work has been published in most of the Military Times publications, as well as MarketWatch, The Washington Post Express, USA Today, and several newspapers throughout the Chicago and Ohio region. Hudson served as the president of Military, Reporters, and Editors, a nonprofit association focused on supporting journalists and educating the public on national security issues, from 2014-2017. She received her master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2008 and double majored in journalism and English at Ohio State University prior to that. Hudson is a former staff sergeant in the Air Force Reserve, where she was assigned to the 87th Aerial Port Squadron at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, from 2001 to 2007.
