About Amy John

I possess over 20 years of experience in recreation. I have worked in a variety of areas of recreation including; seniors, inclusion, outdoor education, customer service, camps, aquatics, fitness, community programs, active living, skating, dance and preschool. My vast experience provides me a well-rounded view of recreation programming. Professionally, I work to develop strategic partnerships within communities. These mutually beneficial partnerships allow organizations to collaborate in the delivery of programming. I have also leveraged these partnerships to raise funds allowing individuals to access recreation. Throughout my career I have focused on the development of comprehensive staff training. I work to create dynamic, interactive sessions and resources to assist staff when working in all areas of recreation. I typically train over 150 staff annually. I have spent many years focused on removing barriers to create inclusive recreation experiences for people of all abilities. I am trainer in Behaviour System Management- helping to create safe, accessible environments for people requiring additional support behaviourally. I am also a High Five trainer in Principles of Healthy Childhood Development, Healthy Aging and Quest 2. Personally, I am approachable, hard-working and team minded. I am typically a leader within my organization however I enjoy being led. My calm demeanour allows me to provide quality customer service and respond to concerns in a manner that produces an agreeable outcome.
