About Amy L Bradley

I’m an editor, writing coach, musicologist, and educator with over 20 years of professional experience in music, research, publishing, and both K–12 and higher education. As Editor at NAfME, I oversee five academic journals—including Music Educators Journal—and collaborate closely with Teaching Music magazine and NAfME’s Books program. I also serve as liaison to the Council of State Editors and provide editorial support across departments, projects, and initiatives as we advocate for and support music education. I have extensive experience as a freelance editor, writing coach, and project consultant, partnering with faculty, graduate students, and independent scholars to develop and complete books, journal articles, dissertations, and grant proposals in musicology, music education, performance, art history, and the broader humanities and social sciences. I hold a PhD in Musicology from Florida State University, where I taught for nearly a decade, focusing on courses in music bibliography, history, and literature and analysis. I have also worked as a K–12 piano teacher and a performing pianist and vocalist. I believe deeply in the transformative power of music and the arts—and in fostering diversity, equity, and accessibility in education. I also believe that curiosity, creativity, and connection are at the heart of meaningful learning, research, writing, and everyday life. My work is grounded in a passion for helping people find their voice and communicate their ideas with clarity, purpose, and integrity. As an editor, I aim to build trust and communicate with care—offering thoughtful, constructive feedback while honoring each writer’s voice and vision. I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of individuals refine their ideas and successfully navigate the writing and publication process.
