About Amy Lopez

With a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, and a Master's in Special Education, both from the University of Florida, I have invested myself into understanding high-quality, evidence-based teaching. In the classroom, I educated a variety of K-5 students with disabilities, assessed students regularly, and collaborated with general education teachers to facilitate student progress. In a non-classroom role, I have overseen the development and implementation of high-quality Individual Education Plans while working behind the scenes to keep student files on my caseload in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. I have gained experience composing and generating documents required to keep student educational files up to date, as well as scheduling and running a high volume and wide variety of meetings related to student educational supports. Working in special education has developed my ability to present dense information in a comprehensible format in my writing and create systems to organize a complex variety of files. It has fostered my ability to manage many long-term projects over time, coordinate the schedules of multiple stakeholders, and communicate effectively with members of a team to collect information in service of a shared goal.
