Background
About Amy Merrick
I lead a multidisciplinary team delivering best-practice support to court users. Our work is grounded in trauma-informed, anti-racist, and anti-colonial principles, with a focus on addressing the impacts of systemic oppression within the justice system.I developed and piloted the Court Support Coordinator (CSC) role in 2016, identifying service gaps and refining the model to reduce distress, improve court experiences, and provide therapeutic support. The program has since expanded across all four metropolitan Children’s Courts, with regional and remote access now available. With a strong background in social justice and a commitment to improving access to justice, I have extensive experience supporting individuals and families with complex trauma, disability, and structural disadvantage. I previously worked as a Drug and Alcohol Case Manager with the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP) at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, supporting clients with multiple and complex needs.
