About Amy Panikowski

I'm a biologist and geographer by training who found a love for management and development of people while working as a Peace Corps Recruiter in grad school. Since then, I've been seeking opportunities to integrate my conservation experience with my talents for managing and building successful teams. I'm a conservation generalist who enjoys being surrounded by specialists. I thrive in environments where I can build connections between people, groups, and their talents/skills to reach our conservation goals. Further, I enjoy coordinating teams to maximize on skills as well as support human growth and potential. I am a mentor and cheerleader who appreciates working with dynamic people to solve complex problems. I am a perceptive evaluator of people's talents and want to see all of us succeed by doing and being our best. My world outside of work is fulfilling and a constant for learning. I am a sponge for knowledge of the subjects that intrigue me. I tap into my artistic side through crochet. Some of my best time off is spent traveling and learning about my new home with my spouse. We spend a lot of time locally traveling and I'm continually learning more in depth knowledge from him about the flora and fauna local to our area. Finding a love for succulents and proteas, I'm more of a gardener now than I was in the US. And if that wasn't enough, I also assist my spouse with capturing and relocating reptiles (mostly snakes) in our town. I further advocate & work with bats as an active member of The Bat Interest Group of KwaZulu-Natal. Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new!
