About Amy Pierce

As a Library Manager with more than 25 years’ experience at the University of Washington, I managed full-time and student employees at the Libraries Media Center and later oversaw Interlibrary Loan lending and document delivery. I ensured continuity of services, planned and implemented new activities, tracked and managed budgets, and maintained outstanding levels of customer service in all of my teams and units. Given an exciting opportunity to relocate to Australia in 2017, I left the UW and moved to Sydney, where I became a Customer Service Librarian at a dynamic metropolitan public library. There, I further developed my leadership skills and gained experience with event management, children’s programming, and working with community members of all ages. I worked as part of a team providing roving reference and information assistance to the public in all areas of the library. After returning to Seattle in 2019, I returned to UW Libraries in Special Collections. I handle all aspects of receiving, routing to cataloging, organizing, and physical processing of monographs and serials (including rare and fragile books). I also provide assistance and guidance to researchers in the Special Collections Reading Room.
