About Amy Poff

I have volunteered heavily for many yearsI have been trained as a Crisis Counselor and have volunteered hundreds of hours on a crisis text line; helping to take those in any type of crisis from a hot moment to a cool calm. I have assisted over 500 texters in a variety of crisis situations such as; suicide, self harm, anxiety, depression, bullying, school, family life as well as many other types of crisis issues. I myself can stay calm in a crisis and have the knowledge to support and show empathy. I understand active listening, collaborative problem solving, safety planning as well as how to assist in finding resources if needed. I have been in many managerial positions. All of my positions have required me to be self motivating. I have developed and completed many new programs with a week long City Fair, a new local teen support group with the Arthritis Foundation, and youth city council. I am currently a liaison between the state and federal government and the Arthritis Foundation.I have been a presenter for youth and teens at the National Juvenile Arthritis Convention. I have also worked with Federal, State and Local officials directly to collaborate on issues concerning laws and what would support those with arthritis.
