About Amy Poland

When I graduated from high school, I immediately joined the Air Force. My parents didn't have the means to put me through college and I knew that I would be able to get an education through the military. I started out my career as an Electronics Engineering Technician and continued to work in that industry until my mother became ill in 2002, She needed me to move back to Texas to care for her. It was during this timeframe that I realized I had a passion for helping people and working in the healthcare industry could help me fulfill that purpose. Since I knew that direct patient care was not what I wanted to pursue, I decided to move into healthcare via the administrative side. I began my healthcare career as a file clerk in a doctor's office in 2003 and continually worked to expand my knowledge base which helped me to move into a leadership role. I have significant experience in both front and back-office clinical administration as well as corporate billing including revenue cycle management. Having 17 years of experience and seeing how rapidly the healthcare industry changes, I know now that my ultimate goal is to move into the public health arena where I can work to make changes through legislation. Upon completion of my education at UTD, I plan to obtain my graduate degree in Public Administration. I am an accomplished leader with an unparalleled work ethic and track record of meeting goals. I am a strong relationship builder who is highly capable of partnering with clients, vendors, staff, and other administration.My expertise includes business communications, customer service, revenue cycle management, and staff development.
