Background
About Amy Rini
I am a dedicated, forward thinking senior at Fordham University with a 3.85 GPA pursuing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theology and minoring in Economics. As a Fordham Student Advocacy Fellow, I am co-leading an on-campus composting initiative. In collaboration with the Fordham Dining Services and the Center for Community Engaged Learning, we are hoping to promote and rollout the university's first composting program which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from campus food waste and aid towards Fordham University's goal to reduce C02 emissions by 40% by 2030. Fordham University has provided me with opportunities to grow in my Ignatian identity, gain experience in fundraising, and engage in cultural exchanges with international communities. I was one of 10 students selected for a service and cultural immersion program in London, UK rooted in social justice and community engagement. There we studied under Dr. Edward DeQuay at Oxford University's Laudato Si Research Institute on Catholic Institution carbon emissions reporting and best practices for implementing integral ecology in ecclesiastical communities. As a part of this experience, I led a fundraising initiative that raised over $1.4K to support the trip. Additionally, I raised $6.2K with a team of 25 Fordham students to support a two-week pilgrimage, including 10 days of service at a senior center in rural Portugal, to join 2 million Catholics from around the world in Lisbon, Portugal for World Youth Day. As a co-founding student researcher at the Bronx Irish American History (BIHP) and researcher at the Bronx African American History (BAAHP) Project, I interview, transcribe and document Bronx Irish and African American History. I have a tenacious drive to cultivate a more sustainable world. In the future, I seek to utilize my research skills and passion for the environment to discover proactive solutions to address climate change. Feel free to contact me at arini2@fordham.edu. I look forward to speaking with you!
